Only choose a dynamic contract if you can shift usage
Dynamic contracts follow market prices per hour or per quarter hour; they can pay off if you can run heavy appliances when prices are low, but raise risk if you cannot.

With a dynamic contract the price changes every hour or every quarter hour with the market, depending on the supplier. It can pay off if you can run heavy appliances (charging an electric car, a heat pump, a home battery) when prices are low. Prices are usually lowest around midday and at night, and higher early in the morning and in the evening.
If most of your use falls at expensive times and you cannot move it, the advantage can disappear: with a dynamic contract you carry much of the price risk yourself, so another contract type may suit you better. Your digital meter must record quarter-hour data (metering regime 3); you can switch this on in Mijn Fluvius. The V-test includes dynamic offers; with more than a year of quarter-hour data you can import your usage for a realistic estimate.
