Set your advance bills to your real usage

Advance payments (voorschotfacturen) are estimates; you can ask your supplier to align them with your real consumption, or switch to a monthly settlement if you have a digital meter.

Your advance is an estimate based on past meter readings, so it can be off when your situation changes (you moved in recently, bought a big appliance, or started saving energy). You can ask your supplier to change the amount; if they refuse, they must give a reason. If the supplier proposes a change, you have 15 days to object.

With a digital meter you can instead choose a monthly settlement (maandafrekening) and pay each month for what you actually used. For gas heating that means higher bills in winter and lower ones in summer.
