Have your boiler checked by an approved technician
In Wallonia an oil or solid-fuel boiler needs a periodic check every year and a gas boiler up to 100 kW every 3 years. In a rental the tenant usually arranges the servicing and keeps the certificate.

Walloon rules require a periodic check of central heating boilers. An oil boiler and a solid-fuel boiler (wood, coal) need one every year. A gas boiler needs one every 3 years if its rated output is 100 kW or less, and every 2 years above that. Any work on the combustion part, such as the burner, calls for an extra check. Installations above 20 kW also get a one-off in-depth diagnosis with advice on improving their efficiency, repeated only if the system or the heating needs change.
Oil and gas boilers must be checked by a technician approved by the AwAC, the Walloon air and climate agency; solid-fuel boilers by a specialised technician. Keep the certificates in the heating file: the user of the installation has to keep at least the last two.
If you rent, the tenant usually has the boiler serviced by an approved technician: every year with chimney sweeping for oil, and for gas as the law or the lease says. Give the certificate to your landlord when asked. Sweeping the chimney is also the tenant's job unless the lease says otherwise. Replacing a boiler or burner that is worn out is up to the landlord.
