From 1 January 2030, a rental home that doesn't reach the required EPC label counts as unfit and may no longer be rented out. Terraced homes and apartments need label D in 2030 and label C from 2035. Detached and semi-detached homes need label E in 2030, label D from 2035 and label C from 2040.
The Flemish government has also announced that, from 2028, landlords of the least energy-efficient rental homes will no longer be allowed to index the rent. When we checked, this was not yet law.
