Installers of solar panels, solar water heaters, pellet boilers, heat pumps and shallow geothermal systems can earn a certificate of competence called RESCert. It aims to raise the yield, safety and lifespan of the installations they put in. You can look up certified installers per type of installation on rescert.be.
For solar panels, solar water heaters and pellet boilers a certified installer is not required, but it is recommended. For a heat pump it matters for the premium: to get Mijn VerbouwPremie, the heat pump must be installed or checked by a certified installer, and their RESCert number must be on the contractor's attest.
Ask for the RESCert number before you sign a quote. If something goes wrong with a certified installer, the official page explains how to file a complaint.
