Renovating in Wallonia? Support is now a loan (Rénopack or Rénoprêt), not a grant
Since 1 October 2026 Walloon renovation support takes the form of loans from the SWCS or the FLW, for homes with a low PEB label. The old primes Habitation closed on 30 September 2026, and the new procedures are still being finalised.

Wallonia changed its renovation support on 1 October 2026. The primes Habitation (the Walloon renovation grants) are closed: every application, final invoice included, had to be in by 30 September 2026. Support now comes as a loan, and only for homes that perform poorly: a home with PEB label G or F has to reach at least D after the works, and a home with label E at least C. A home already at D or better is outside the scheme, though an exception is possible when the target is truly out of reach for technical, functional or economic reasons.
There are two loans. The Rénopack (an interest-free loan of which part does not have to be repaid) is for households in the lower income categories who own the home and live in it. The Rénoprêt (a loan at zero or a reduced rate) is for households with higher incomes, and landlords and co-ownership associations can apply for it too. A co-owner can finance works in their own flat. The loans are granted by the SWCS (Société wallonne du Crédit social, the regional social lender) and, for households with more than two dependent children, by the FLW (Fonds du Logement de Wallonie). You first need a recent audit logement, and works must not start before the loan contract is signed.
The scheme is new and not everything is settled. The SWCS says the application procedures are still being finalised and expects the scheme to be fully running in early 2027; until then you can prepare the audit, quotes, any permits and your income documents. Appeals against the 2025 grant reform are also still pending before the Conseil d'État, and the government adjusted the transitional rules for some older projects on 24 September 2026. Check the official pages, or ask a Guichet Énergie, before you sign anything.
This does not apply in the nine German-speaking municipalities, where the German-speaking Community runs its own premiums and renovation loan; see ostbelgienlive.be.
